FHSD Chief Communications Officer Jennifer Jolls was recently quoted in an STLPR article critical of donation to assist new Turning Point USA chapters at FHSD said: “We heard a pretty consistent plea to end the culture wars at Francis Howell,..”. The implication is that a donation to support a completely student-organized and run club that supports Faith, Freedom, and Love of Country is a “Culture War“.
The definition of “Culture War” seems elusive, but after careful research we can now illustrate its meaning in our district by using counter examples:
It’s NOT: When Francis Howell hired a self-proclaimed expert on Critical Race Theory to help design new curriculum and hide it from the community. They gaslit us saying FHSD doesn’t teach CRT, but we have the evidence.
It’s NOT: When FHSD tried to eliminate challenge course from middles schools to solve “equity issues”. They also tried to “adjust the cut scores” so that students would be placed in challenge classes based on their skin color.
It’s NOT: When Francis Howell pushed a CRT Social Justice agenda in middle school, including a 6th grade reading program.
It’s most certainly NOT: When books describing the rape of children were placed in middle school libraries for 11 years olds.
It’s absolutely NOT: When FHHS tacitly supported a pro-abortion “walk-out” by students from class, and please ignore that staff assisted students in making protest signs.
It’s NOT: When FHSD admitted to discrimination against Christian middle school students
It Wasn’t: When NEA supported board members Blair and Owens opposed common sense restrictions on discussions of human sexuality with students, keeping secrets from parents
It couldn’t be when: Jamie Martin, president of the Francis Howell Forward PAC, fired up the gaslights in an attempt to smear Turning Point USA. Or Jamie’s presentation on “Whiteness” and Critical Race Theory in our schools. (See HERE)
