Earlier this month, the local NEA (“FHEA”) endorsed Sarah Oelke and Amy Gryder for FHSD School Board. This is no surprise as Sarah Oelke proudly touts her position as a member of the NEA leadership team in the Parkway School District. Additionally, Oelke is the 2024 Parkway NEA Grant winner for “Social Justice in Education”.
Gryder has an impressive far left ideological resume of her own. Between her incendiary social media posts about conservatives and radical beliefs like teaching Kindergartners to choose their own pronouns, Gryder is the perfect messenger for the NEA’s radical ideology.
A minority of our teachers are members of the NEA, but they still want control over YOUR school board. If we let this happen, what does it mean for you?
- The 2019-2022 NEA-controlled board failed their oversight responsibilities, resulting in a $79M cost overrun and “Poor” State Audit results. Do we want to go back to more of that?
- Compromised School Safety: NEA endorsed board members have voted against Police Officers in schools, jeopardizing student and staff safety.
- Loss of Francis Howell’s academic ranking: The NEA prioritizes DEI initiatives and social justice activism over academics. Do we want to eliminate challenge courses again?

- Politicization of Classrooms: The NEA opposes recent restrictions on political campaigning in schools.
