Francis Howell Families supports the Francis Howell School Board conservative majority, who are committed to the passage of a common sense bathroom and locker room policy that protects the privacy and security of our students. Getting this badly needed policy in place is taking much longer than any of us would like. A 2019 Missouri Supreme Court decision against the Blue Springs School District conflated sex and gender without clarifying whether gender identity is protected under the Missouri Human Rights Act. However the Blue Springs School District has successfully gained a rehearing before the Missouri Supreme Court which, after delays, is scheduled for early January 2025.

Our district is home to several transgender activists. Some of the founders of the local chapter of TransParent USA, a national organization of affirming parents of transgender students, live and work in FHSD. Additionally, the ACLU is representing an FHSD parent who is suing the state of Missouri over the ban on puberty blockers, hormones and gender-affirming surgery for minors. Both sets of parents have publicly vowed to sue the district if a bathroom and locker room policy is passed.

Based on the current legal precedence, the district may or may not win a lawsuit. We have a choice to pass a bathroom/locker room policy now and spend school district funds fighting a lawsuit, or with a Supreme Court resolution so close at hand, waiting to ensure the district acts on a solid legal foundation.

CALL TO ACTION: Friends and Followers, we are at a crossroads here in the FHSD. Are we going to let a handful of far left activists continue to disrupt meetings and falsely slander our district, community and conservative board members? Or are we, the silent majority, going to speak up and support our conservative board members as they navigate this difficult issue. For those who strongly support a common sense bathroom and locker room policy, call the superintendent and express your concerns about the privacy and security of our students.  Please support our conservative board members as they navigate this difficult issue, and feel free to reach out to them.
