Why do so many people around public schools want to have secret discussions with students about human sexuality, sexual orientation, and gender identity without informing parents and guardians? The main reason seems to be because they don’t think kids are “safe” talking with their own parents about these subjects.

This is why passing Regulation 6116 on Human Sexuality by the Francis Howell School Board on August 15th is so important. Opponents of the regulation take on an attitude of needing to  protect kids from their own parents.

Thankfully, the conservative majority of the Francis Howell School Board have put forth Regulation 6116 on Human Sexuality that protects parents and guardians as the primary authority for their children. The regulation cements parental rights by requiring any gender identity discussions between staff and minors to require consultation and consent with all legal guardians or parents on file.

Further, the regulation states that school district employees cannot encourage minors to adopt a gender identity or sexual orientation. The regulation also clearly says that employees cannot encourage students to pursue gender reassignment drug therapies or surgeries.

Remember that this regulation and several others will go up for a final vote on August 15th! If you think Regulation 6116 on Human Sexuality should pass, email the Francis Howell Board of Education at their email addresses below and plan to join us at the meeting:
