HUGE Budget OVERRUNS in the Francis Howell School District

Many of the Proposition S capital projects are coming in severely over budget, including the new Francis Howell North high school

Specific Budget OVERRUNS at Francis Howell:

• New Francis Howell North High School: Original budget: $86M; New estimate: $165M a 91% OVERRUN
• Becky David playground upgrade: 50% Overrun
• Independence  playground: 83% overrun
• Security Vestibules: 147% overrun
• Saeger Parking Lot: Paving: 133% overrun
• Bryan Middle School Parking Lot: 253% overrun
• FH Central HS Parking Lot: 410% overrun
• $2.5M Overrun in Parking Lots alone

Suggested Possible NEXT STEPS:

• Obtain expert legal advice on the options and obligations of all parties involved
• Suspend approval of further bid packages until a path of fiscal responsibility is charted
• Publish a comprehensive status report for ALL Prop S projects
• Engage state level resources to assist in validating (AG, State Auditor)
• Engage independent, out of state construction expertise to review current contracts.
• Review the current solicitation process.
