The future of our schools is on the line.

This April, the Francis Howell School District faces a pivotal election that will determine the direction of our schools for years to come. Francis Howell Families is proud to endorse Randy Cook and Ashley Sturm for the school board election on April 8, 2025. These two dedicated parents are ready to fight for our students, empower our teachers, and protect the values that make FHSD a top-tier district.

This election is a swing year. Losing the majority means losing control over the progress we’ve made.

What’s at Stake?

  • Financial Stability Without Burdening Taxpayers: Through careful oversight, FHSD has nearly doubled financial reserves, all while delivering three teacher pay increases and keeping taxes low. Randy and Ashley will ensure this responsible leadership continues.
  • Parental Rights in Education: The days of schools keeping secrets from parents are over. Randy and Ashley believe parents must remain informed partners in their children’s education.
  • Focused Classrooms, Not Politics: FHSD classrooms should be led by teachers, not political activism. Our candidates are committed to academic excellence, prioritizing student learning above all else.

Meet the Candidates

Randy Cook and Ashley Sturm aren’t just parents—they’re advocates for a stronger FHSD. Both bring a passion for education and a commitment to transparency, accountability, and results. They understand that keeping FHSD exceptional means focusing on the basics: smart spending, strong academics, and community trust.

Since election to the board in 2022, Randy Cook has a proven record of safety, academic excellence, and fiscal responsibility for Francis Howell.  He voted to make upgrades to building security, led efforts to increase student data privacy, and has a 100% voting record for School Resource Officers.  Randy knows that kids learn best from teachers — not tablets, and he prevented implementation of the computer-based math program used by lower performing districts in our area.  Through proper fiscal oversight, he has kept our tax rate the lowest in St Charles County while maintaining our status as the top performing district. Not only have our cash reserves doubled, but Randy voted to increase teacher salaries with over 11% more to attract the best new teachers.

I’m running for the school board because I believe in smart spending, strong academics, and transparency—values that have made our district one of the best in the state. Together, we can build on this success and protect the future of FHSD for every family.
